This course will consist of the following topics: \n\n\nState Firearm Law\n\nOverview of laws\nDiscussion regarding regulated firearms\nHow to purchase\nHow to transfer\nWhere permitted to carry\nWhere permitted to transport\nWhere it is necessary to possess a permit\nWho is prohibited from possessing\n\n\n\nHome Firearm Safety\n\nOverview of firearm safety in the home\nDiscussion on access to minors\nLocking & storing\nProper use of safety devices\n\n\n\nHandgun Mechanism & Operation\n\nOverview of proper operation\nOverview of safe handling\nCleaning & maintenance\nLoading & unloading\nDifferences between revolvers & automatics\n\n\n\nThe course will also consist of a live fire component in which you will demonstrate your ability to fire a pistol under the supervision of an instructor. The rental of a semi automatic .22 caliber pistol and ammunition is included in the course fee. \nPlease contact us for further details and questions. \n  \nUnder the Firearms Safety Act 2013 also known as SB281\, all new handgun purchasers must apply for and receive a Handgun Qualification License (HQL) before purchase.
